Singapore Toy, Games & Comics Convention 2010

The Singapore Toy, Games and Comics Convention (STGCC) 2010 has announced the latest line-up of internationally-renowned artists, comic illustrators and writers from Marvel and DC Comics, and popular toy designers from Asia, US and Europe, who will be attending the show this December.

Fans and all will get to meet big names – and those with the right talent may even possibly land an opportunity in the industry – with people like C.B. Cebulski, Marvel Comics' international talent scout who is always on the hunt for the best and brightest new artists the world has to offer, and Jennifer Phillips, renowned action/fight choreographer behind thrilling action scenes in Hollywood blockbusters like Salt, Kung Fu Panda, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Florian Ma Ho Yin solo exhibition 'gene' at K11

Hong Kong born emerging artist Florian Ma Ho Yin creates a world of signs teeming with aesthetics, history and life symbols. This fascinating world will come to life at the conceptual multi-media exhibition that takes place at Hong Kong K11 Art Mall.

Both Genesis and Evolution are parts of the world Ma wants to explore in this exhibition. Growing up under the influences of cartoon, animation and comic books, Ma uses vivid visual languages to interpret how the beginning of the world evolves through processes of life, growth and reproduction.

Ma draws out his universe of space, colour, time and the day of creation begins in K11 Art Mall this Christmas. Experience this universe and create your own at K11!

ESPRIT Rabbit-T design competition

With the roaring success of Hong Kong Esprit’s 2009 Year of The Tiger T-shirt Design Competition, Esprit has decided to launch 2010 Year of The Rabbit T-shirt creative project on a grander scale to include more design from the region beyond just Hong Kong. This year, entries from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan are welcome to join this competition.

The theme of the competition is to come up with one’s own interpretation for a T-shirt design for The Year of The Rabbit. To inspire the participants, Esprit will increase the number of prizes to allow 12 winning entries from Asia to see their designs being printed and sold in Esprit stores in the region of China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. Winner will also receive a Esprit Gift Card equivalent to HK$5000

The design exhibition of Guangzhou Design Week 2010 is the most influential comprehensive one in China. Since 2006, exhibition area has added up to 90.000 sq meters, boasting more than 120,000 professional visitors from design institutions as well as brands at home and aboard.

agIdeas 2011 NewStar design scholarship

agIdeas NewStar is one of the most prestigious and important design scholarships in Australia for young designers. The scholarships include: The Collie Trust Award and Fabrica Award, Italy, each valued at over $5000.00 in airfares and accommodation, plus the invaluable experience of working with a leading design studios.

Students are invited to submit their best work in 2D, 3D and multimedia. A panel of leading Australian and New Zealand designers will shortlist the entries and the winners will be selected by the international guest presenters from agIdeas 2011 International Design Week.
